Work Where Daycare Costs $58,000 A Year

How much do you pay a month for daycare? How about before school and after school care?

Out here in Katy, Texas the going rate for full days is around $110-$140 for your basic no frills 100 kids in one room with two adults supervising facility. I don’t know how this compares to the rest of the country but with two kids $900 a month is more than what we pay for our mortgage.

Well, I thought that was a lot until I saw this article in the New York Times about Google’s daycare. Click here to read the article. Basically Google has increased the rate for their on-site daycare to $2,400 a month for infants. Wow! It really isn’t too bad if you work at Google and make about $350,000 a month. In fact, if Google wants to hire me please feel free to contact me at this blog because I will gladly pack up and move in a day. That means for that one child a parent would pay close to $57,000 a year in tuition for the on-site daycare which I might add does serve organic food.

I am not knocking Google. I am just aghast at the price. Boy, I sure would like my kids to go to a child care facility located in the same building as I work in during the day.
